About Me
Hi, there! I’m Charis, and I’m a professional writer hoping to get involved in the public relations, publishing, or museum work industries. I’m inclined to share untold stories, especially through historical fiction. If I’m not listening to a Tchaikovsky ballet or brewing coffee, you can find me with my nose in a fairy tale retelling.

I am currently a historical fiction author working on a book about the sinking of the SS Princess Sophia, the largest maritime disaster in Pacific Northwest History. My specialty is research in 1918, particularly the end of WW1, the decline of the Yukon territory following the gold rush, and the rise of the Spanish Flu.

I love helping people improve their writing. I lead a critique group, providing a space for fellow writers to share their work and get valuable feedback. I was recently a staff editor for the literary magazine The Fulminare Review. I read submissions and recommended exceptional pieces to our top editors.

I have experience writing grants, recently submitting a proposal for $30,000 for a local school’s technology program. I also have experience with events, as I was the Director of Sponsorships for Eventricity’s social media conference.
I’m passionate about editing and hope that I can help make the stories of others shine. If you want to connect with me and share what you’re writing or reading or just want to talk about life, visit my Instagram @charis.writes. I can’t wait to get to know you!
